We are shy on numbers vs our competitors.  Don't know about quality.  Hopefully our showing vs 'cuse will yield some more quality recruits.

2017 Recruits with current # of seniors in parenthesis.  Thought there may be a correlation between the # of seniors graduating, but now I'm unsure?!

Navy - 22 (8 seniors on current roster who are graduating; not sure how this many recruits is possible?)
Army - 18 (10)
Lehigh - 17 (9)
Bucknell - 16 (8 )
Holy Cross - 14 (11)
Lafayette - 14 (9)
BostonU - 13 (18 - makes sense, this is their first lax class I think)
Loyola - 12 (12)
Colgate - 10 (11)

As for the game against Syracuse, I was pleasantly surprised.  But if a Tewaaraton winner can't help this program achieve consistent success, then a close game against 'Cuse is meaningless.  We have had some amazing ROTYs, but one player does not guarantee a PL championship or a trip to the NCAAs.

Navy always brings in this many - sometimes as many as 30 or more.   Your tax dollars at work.   Over the past decade, in general they have had a lot more admission spots for athletes.

Of those 22 recruits, most will go to NAPS and a few probably won't end up at Navy.   Of those who do, a number won't last four years, either on the team or in the Academy.

If you look at the lists on Laxpower you will see Gate's recruits were  in the 400's in terms of when they committed.  If you look at Cornell they have some in the 100's and Bucknell has four recruits in the 200's.  This means we are late to hit the recruiting trail which may well be lower quality.

That is the site I refer to.  All but 5 of Navy's recruits are listed as Early (fall) commits; this doesn't sound like they are wavering or will go elsewhere.  Forgive my ignorance, but do the service academies offer scholarships?  Aren't there roster # limitations?

BTW, Colgate recruits appear on pgs. 18-19.  As the sport grows, it will only become more difficult for Colgate to recruit and compete with the ACC, Big East & Big Ten.  For now, I am concerned with having a winning season and making our own tournament on a consistent basis.  The Patriot League is a terrific league.  It is a competitive league, but mostly within itself.  Army has 2 stunning OOC wins; BU on the other hand has just shown in its loss to Duke that a good (conference) record does not mean much against a power conference.  For Army to beat #1 Syracuse and #4 Notre Dame and finish with a 12-4 record but NOT make the tournament...our league is doomed!

It is pathetic that Army didn't make.  Lacrosse politics is dominated by the old boys, i.e. John Hopkins, UNC Duke etc.  hard for us to expand our footprint.
