MBB: The Week in Review

THE WEEK IN REVIEW: A difficult week to say the least. Blowing a halftime lead to HC on the road and losing by two and then recovering from an 11 pt deficit vs Navy yesterday only to lose in OT by three. IMHO, too many turnovers yesterday for sure, but the lack of strength underneath both in shooting and rebounding and missed foul shots (that's why they are  sometimes called FREE throws) hurt the overall intense effort......for both games.  Go 'gate!

They play hard but are really young.  As soon as we went up 5 Navy turned up the intensity & we didn't answer it.  More games, more muscle... team could be pretty good in a year or two, assuming we find a reasonable replacement for Tillotson.

Great win vs Bucknell - gritty. Can't believe we beat the Bison after they dismantled Lehigh easily last week. Just shows what this team is capable of when the players lean in and the coaching rises to the occasion

Indeed, a nice win over Bucknell. The players are buying into Langel's system and trusting the coaches. The old cliché.....a work in progress...certainly applies to these guys, IMHO. Other than senior Tillotson who is arguably this team's heart and soul, we must remember this is a young team that will only get better. Hoops are getting to be fun at 'gate again!

Wow, what an impressive and inspiring win on the road against a league unbeaten!  Bucknell is always formidable and so are their fans.  The color commentator was something...f-o-u-l-e-d = FOULED, he screams lol...

The best part is that it was a team effort.  A one-man show would never get it done.  And to come back in both halves the way we did...hope it leads to consistency.  Hopefully those 1-bucket losses are behind us.

When it comes to tiebreakers, it's always good to beat the ones above you on the totem pole!

Nice win at home against Boston University this evening, 85-78.

Last night's win vs Boston U revealed a lot of good things. Tillotson gets two quick fouls for the second straight game and we don't miss a beat. Rivard has an off game offensively and someone else steps up. O'Brien is one tough guy going for loose balls. Swopshire is money from 3 pt land. Ramon can be solid on both ends. Very good coaching, improving players, intensity on defense are responsible for this 5-2 record and .500 overall. Stay tuned, 'gate fans. This team is young and fun to watch.

Gate was unstoppable from the arc in the second half. I think Shopshire had something like 3-4 treys. That enabled us to build a big lead and coast to the final whistle. Great win!

Anybody else have trouble with the Campus Insiders feed last night?  Kept crashing in the first half and while the picture was better in the 2nd the sound was still terrible... which was too bad with Foyle doing the color.  Agree it was a nice win vs. a BU team that had won a few in a row, let's keep it going!

Only saw the second half, but no trouble with the feed at that time. It was great having Foyle in the booth. Hope he makes more appearances.

Thrilled for the win...and for the great offense in the 2nd half for the 2nd game in a row!  CU and BU seem very similar.

NOT thrilled with the last 2min of our play in the game.  Comment made by Foyle about our implosion against Navy, and it looked like it would happen again.  We did not end the game convincingly IMO.

Game Sunday @ Loyola has already been canceled due to the weather according to ESPN (same story for HC @ AU).  So this week in review ends on a high note...

Spoke too soon on the week being over... since HC was postponed as well, they are now coming to Hammy on Sunday.  Funny that the teams will avoid the snow by going to Hamilton!  Here's the story...

at Lehigh

So much for consistency, losing on the road to 5-13 Lehigh.  Don't think season expectations were high after last year's surprise run and losses to graduation, so .500 right now is a dream.

Time to recharge.  Always comes down to the postseason anyway.

Saw the 2nd half, got it down to 3 but couldn't get over the hump.  Regisford didn't play in the 2nd half (not sure about the 1st), announcers didn't provide any insight... hope it's nothing serious.  He was certainly missed.

Tough road loss at Loyola.  No one squanders a 6pt lead and muffs it in the final seconds better than the Raiders Sad

Loss at Loyola

I'm going to remain positive, but last night's loss hurt. Do we miss Regisford so much? Maybe. Definitely? Langel's comment about being a bit thin (that could be literally and figuratively) was a factor says something. The guys seem to be playing with intensity and apparently that's insufficient against any PL team. I look for O'Brien to resume putting some points on the board.....and for Regisford to return from wherever he is. Two tough games coming up. Aren't they all?  Go 'gate!

Regisford has a foot injury.  How serious and when he don't know?
