Two PATRIOT LEAGUE MLAX Teams Advance to the NCAA ELITE 8

Two PATRIOT LEAGUE MLAX Teams Advance to the NCAA ELITE 8

Loyola ( PL Champ and AQ qualifier ) handily defeated Duke at home http://www.loyolagreyhounds.com/sports/m-lacros/recaps/051416aaa.html . At large pick ( by a whisker ) Navy upset #4 Yale by 3 points in New Haven http://www.navysports.com/sports/m-lacros/recaps/051516aaa.html.

Someone will have to check the PL and NCAA MLAX record books to see if there have ever been 2 PL teams who, in the same year, have won their first round NCAA tourney games. The net effect is that Loyola and Navy now represent two of the eight teams left in the tournament.

While not a direct win for Colgate, it is an indiction that the PL is continuing to gain recognition nationally as "in the mix in the top level of Div. I MLAX."

Although 'Gate was missing, great to see 2 PL teams make it to the Elite 8. Good publicity and recruiting tool for the whole league. Watched the Navy game - a real nail biter all the way. Quite an accomplishment to beat a very highly rated Yale team. Loyola trounced Duke - a nice win for the league. Hopefully next year will see the Gaters in the tournament come May.

Lax power predictions on the 2 PL NCAA Elite 8 Teams: Navy & Loyola

"....Brown-Navy: .The only clear favorite in the four quarterfinal games is Brown, which plays Navy on Saturday. The Bears would be a five-goal favorite over the Mids on a neutral field, but they have the added advantage of hosting the game. It would be a surprise if Navy pulled the upset and advanced to the Final Four. The Mids did knock off Yale, but Brown brings more in its offensive arsenal.

Loyola-Towson game:. The Greyhounds (#7 seed and ranking) have a slight computer rating edge over the Tigers (unseeded and #10 ranking), but the difference is just half a goal...."

Great seeing Loyola and Navy rep the PL...but the league still didn't get much name recognition on tv IMO.

Anyone watching the playoffs had to be impressed...Maryland/UNC, wow.  If Maryland cannot win a title since 1975 after 5 recent attempts in 7 years, what chance do any of us not in the Ivy/ACC/BIG really have?  For teams like Maryland, it's restock and reload because the recruits are always there.
