WLAXWLAX ( 7-8, 5-3 ) big win over Lehigh ( 11-4, 5-3 ) earns playoff berth; home field in playoff 1st round with probable win over H.C. next Sat.
Led by 5 goals from Sr. Emily Pebbles, the Raiders pulled off a come-from-behind upset against a good Lehigh team in Hammytown. On a four game winning streak, the ladies are playing their best lax of the season. They have had great fire power spread around at attack and midfield from the beginning of the season. But, it has taken seasoning to develop the discipline to sync for the open shots. Heather Young rocks....she consistently recruits well and develops players and teams well. The scholly spigot will have to be turned on to stay with Boston, Loyola and Navy longterm. I think she's the right person to do it!
There are six girls that are capable of multi-goal/point performances in any contest. So, they're tough to defend. And now they know each others' patterns. This was their best performance of the year. ( Lehigh only lost by 1 to PL leading Loyola in OT. )
There's still separation between Gate and PL leaders Loyola, Boston and Navy. But, if Gate, as the #4 seed gets past a likely rematch in the 1st round of the playoffs against Lehigh at home in Hammy, they're capable of giving any of these 1-2-3 seeds a better shot than they did earlier in the year.
