BostonU 18, Colgate 7

Another dismal season; we are going backwards.  Was 15-2 after 3 quarters.  The season is done, time to think about next year.  Wonder if Loyola regrets joining the PL?  They are not the same team since winning their national title.

Is it possible that Loyola's recruiting efforts that used to deliver higher caliber athletes (and more wins) have been stymied since they joined relative to the new, higher PL admissions standards now in place for all their current athletes?

This question is relevant. I don't see why PL membership alone would interfere with their teams' performance.

A 16-11 win over 0-8 Siena isn't anything to brag about.  The recap online paints a nice picture, but this ain't Duke or Syracuse (yet).  It was a game we should have won and needed to win.  Faceoffs were key.

Re: Loyola, the PL will always be inferior to Big Ten, ACC, even with scholarships.  We will never gain any ground.  IMO the PL was a step down for the Greyhounds for lacrosse, maybe not other sports.  They still have a decent OOC slate - Virginia, Johns Hopkins, Duke, G'town, Towson

Colgate @ Cornell Tuesday.

Cornell 15
Colgate 6

Some sarcasm here in a very, very sad season that was over barely after it began.

Such a tremendous (!) win over hapless Siena, followed by a blowout loss to winless Cornell, a team we never beat anyway, even when we're decent.  I called this game as a loss weeks ago.  An impressive 6-25 on faceoffs, I must be dreaming.  Way to recruit a position that has stymied us for years...NOT.

Hope the players are having fun regardless, but we won't top last year's win total of...FOUR.  Am questioning what scholarships are getting us other than mediocre cellar dweller of the PL.  Like Murphy, but he had better right the ship next year before we become a permanent laughingstock in an average league.

Bring on 2018, grrr!

Orr won 79% of the Faceoffs against Cornell and is ranked #6 nationally in Faceoff percentage.

Seems like there are some good recruits coming and that this is a sport made for Colgate. Hope these guys can turn it around.

The f/o stats posted immediately after the game did not show what is posted now.  That is reassuring...so what is the problem?!  Winning f/o and still losing the game is NOT reassuring.  Agree with some recent recruits, just a young team that feels like years in the making.  Still does not serve as an excuse for not beating Cornell.

Nice win over Navy yesterday. 'Gate dominated from the start and essentaily put the game away with that early streak of goals. What are the chances in the PL tournament? ( I assume we're be eligible)

What a beautiful day for a quick 5-0 lead! Our goalie was just incredible! Pretty good crowd, the Maroon Council lot was full so I parked at Tyler's Field.

Big games coming up that presumably makes all the difference for the tournament. Saturday is away at HC, a must-win, no doubt. (I am still smarting from our home loss a year ago. Imagine losing to HC...)

Nice win on Senior Day, can't believe these guys have finished 4 years already.

We host the #1 team in the country - on national tv - in two weeks.  Know the boys will put up a fight, but we have no chance of winning and hope we can keep the loss to single digits!

So we miss the PL tournament and end with another losing season.  Many past successes with some phenomenal players at Colgate.  Just what will it take to maintain consistency?  How do two years of struggles effect an already challenging recruiting process?  Even with scholarships, the PL is not a premier league and will never be.  Watching 'Cuse, Denver, Maryland...it's magic every time.  These dominant teams from power conferences will always be playing come May.  It's baby steps for the PL, but some teams - Army, BU, Loyola - have programs that always seem to rise to the top and stay there.
