Even with scholarships, the PL is not a premier league and will never be.  Watching 'Cuse, Denver, Maryland...it's magic every time.  These dominant teams from power conferences will always be playing come May.  It's baby steps for the PL, but some teams - Army, BU, Loyola - have programs that always seem to rise to the top and stay there.

Army finished 5th and 4th in the PL the previous two years (w/ tiebreaker).  Boston U finished 8th and 7th.   Only Loyola is always at or near the top.  PL is a very tough league.

BU is the newbie and is making strides every season in all sports, especially lacrosse (2014: 2-12), (2015: 6-Cool, (2016: 8-7), (2017: 11-3).  They're definitely on the right trajectory and did not take long to overpower the league's perennial powerhouses.  I predict they will be alongside Loyola for the near future with a third team in the mix, Army.

Congrats to Griffin Brown as another Colgate freshman garners PL ROTY honors.  Imagine having the season without him?!  We need more depth, stronger defense, and a quick, upstart tempo to set the pace.  It's unfortunate that he isn't playing in the postseason.

Curious if anyone thinks that Rogalski will be let go at Lafayette?  Just finished his 5th year with a record of 14-54 (0.26%)

It's possible, although the job at Lafayette - with four scholarships and no tradition - is light years harder than the job is at Colgate.  In terms of funding and scholarships, three teams (Lafayette, Holy Cross, and Bucknell) are on an entirely different playing field than the rest of the league.

It's no doubt harder to field consistently good teams with little or no scholarship $$ but Bucknell has a great lacrosse tradition and HC is on the assent the last several years. Only Lafayette lags. It's a shame as Rogalski arrived with much  fanfare from U of Scranton after a very good D3 run....

Rogalsji is a good coach. Very little Admin od Admissions support . 1 schollie per year. Hard to get enuf talent to rebuild his program.Pards have a few excellent players but the drop off to the rest is steep.

Bucknell has a good lax tradition, but that only lasts so long.  Its program is on the decline at present, as it is very hard to compete in today's lax landscape without athletic scholarships.

I agree 100%, without schollies it's hard to build a successful team these days. That said, with no schollies and a great team you guys almost did it in the NCAAs in 2011 against the #1 team in the country, UVA. Unfortunately, after kicking them for 4 quarters Coach Fedorjaka allowed the team to break the cardinal rule of lacrosse, when leading with little time left....don't shoot, POSSESS THE BALL.. I can't help but think the excruciating loss that followed hurt recruiting a bit for a while. I always felt it was a golden opportunity to show how good PL lacrosse was at the time which would have benefitted us all. That team was outstanding!

Would think Rogalski did his homework and knew what he was getting in to @ Lafayette.  Who says D-I is a step up?

HC with some good games and close nailbiters...but Loyola, BU and Army will make for a good championship weekend.

Congrats to Loyola; the Greyhounds have resurfaced as the team they once were.

Only 1 PL team in the NCAA tournament.  Despite some scholarships, just don't see this changing any time soon, though BU looks to follow in Loyola's footsteps IMO and won't ever look back.  As for the rest of us...
