A clutch, and absolutely essential win. Congratulations to the team for confronting a real gut-check and living to fight another day. Two and four. Not where we wanted to be, and not where we thought we would be.  But a win in the Carrier Dome was stretch dream from Day One (and 'Cuse beat a tough Virginia Tech team today). Our team has played five !!! of these six games on the road. We all know that we need to win out and hope for some help, but I remember being at the Georgetown game in D.C. in 2005. We had lost to Lehigh 50-34 at home two weeks beforehand and assumed that our championship hopes were over. We beat Lafayette and Bucknell and finished with a decisive win over the Hoyas (Jared Nepa and Jordan Scott had epic games). As Coach Biddle was about to climb into the Birney bus for the return trip to Hamilton we all found out that then lowly Lafayette upset Lehigh in their "oldest played continuous rivalry in college football" and, by virtue of the complicated league tie-breaker, 'Gate was going to the playoffs. I can honestly state that Coach B and the team were completely caught off guard by the realization that the Thanksgiving vacation would now be spent on campus gearing up for what would be (ironically with reference to last November) a drubbing the following Saturday at New Hampshire. Bottom line : we didn't expect to end up in the post-season picture then, and it's too soon to rule out anything this year.

I think Melville had 1 interception yesterday?  He also is not running the ball with the same attempts or intensity this season.  He has the ability to make clutch plays, but he feels off this season to me.  Would still put money on him when a game is on the line.  Maddaluna feels the same to me but when the two are on the same page, look out.

At home or on the road, good teams must win.  I don't believe in home field advantage.  Last season's playoffs are a testament to this, but may have done us in by the time we flew to Texas.  The broadcasters yesterday were all-Colgate talk IMO; little to say about BU.  The BU BACK-UP, FRESHMAN, WALK-ON QB made a great impact on the game after the half.  If they had started with him, I'm not sure we would have fared as well.  We have limited pass defense, plain and simple.  We also saw how crucial FGs are in such a tight game.

Looking at these stats on paper, Yale should have beat Fordham.  This is where playoff experience may come in to play.  Anderson's 5 TD passes will give us trouble, as Lehigh proved.

Lehigh at HC next Sat, then vs. Fordham.  With a bye week, let's put all of our energy in Worcester!  Definitely hoping for the latter teams to pull out a victory.

Melville's pick was because Maddaluna was tackled from behind before the ball got there. Just a strange no-call. Almost like deep ball against JMU last year where Maddaluna had a defender beat deep and the guy just took out his legs from behind.

Offensive and defensive lines played great. Washington looked really good (there were holes for sure, but he looked very decisive and very comfortable back there). Nice to see Matthews run so tough. Bodes well for the future.

If you want to root for this team, listen to the interviews on Colgate's website. Just seem like good, smart kids.

Colgate took a FG off the board and a punt return TD off the board with penalties. Tough break for Bowman to make from 40 and then to miss from 45 after the penalty. He's having a very good year. The punt return had three blocks in the back from Colgate. (Would imagine this is a record.) Makes sense that this would happen with Daramy being so quick. Guys are going to have to get used to him changing direction behind them.

Really good short passing game yesterday. Good to see some slants gain big yards. Make the LB's pay for biting on the run. Defense looked great. Having Daramy on the guy in the slot (does he switch from CB to nickel in the nickel?) is a good look. They really seemed to be covering well yesterday.

Holy Cross beating Harvard yesterday tells you that anything can happen with so many league games left. Holy Cross hosts Lehigh next week. Hopefully, they have one more good game in them. (And then are horrible from that point forward.)

I have no doubt that the Melville interception should have been called an interference on Bucknell.  It wasn't close, Maddaluna was clipped from behind (is that redundant?) I too was impressed with Mathews and I hope he gets more playing time.  He will only improve.  The other surprise, out of nowhere really, is Nick Wheeler.  He got a some time in the Lehigh game and yesterday.  The kid is big and moves very well.  I don't remember any hype about him, but I think he will be a very good contributor in years to come.
I really don't know how HC beat Harvard other than I read that the Crimson had a number of players out and fumbled 5 times.  Even given that I am still surprised that the Saders won.

I read somewhere that Harvard pulled many of their first string players to save them for Ivy League play. Don't know how true this is, but providing a walkover to HC hardly sounds like the Johnnies.
